Republic day (26 January) is celebrated every year in India with great enthusiasm and pomp. The holiday commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of India by referendum on 26 January 1950. It celebrates the formation of our country through various events such as:


Flag hoisting ceremonies across all states and union territories;


National Anthem sung on TV channels worldwide;


Displaying national pride through cultural activities like dance shows or dramas etc;

Demonstrations across cities with people wearing saffron colour attire reflecting their patriotism towards nation building project called “Swaraj” which means self rule for India

What is republic day


Republic Day, also known as Republic Day or National Flag Hoisting Day is a national holiday in India. It commemorates the adoption of the constitution on 26 January 1950. The first prime minister of India took an oath to uphold it on this day and his statement was recorded by Dhirendra Brahmachari who later became chief justice of India Supreme Court. On this day, people celebrate by waving flags and singing patriotic songs such as Vande Mataram or Jana Gana Mana etc., which are based on poems written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay during 1875-76 period when he was imprisoned for writing those poems against British rule over Bengal Province at that time

26 January is Republic Day, the birthday of India and a national holiday. It was first celebrated in 1950 as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi's return from South Africa after serving time in prison for leading nonviolent resistance against British rule over India. It is also known as Telugu New Year Festival, because it marks the beginning of spring in Andhra Pradesh (AP).

On this day, people wear red clothing or dress up with traditional Indian outfits while they celebrate by parading through town squares or visiting monuments such as Lakhnau Temple near Hyderabad City Centre where Lord Rama spent his childhood before becoming king Ravana's brother-in-law Sita left behind when she fled from her husband's palace after being abducted by him; Jaya Gopura - built by Tipu Sultan; Ramabai Ambedkar Samajik Mandir - dedicated to Bahujan Movement leader Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar who fought against caste discrimination; World Heritage Site Taj Mahal Palace Garden which attracts tourists annually during this time but only if they have enough money because entrance fees are very expensive compared with other places around Delhi such as Red Fort or Qutub Minar which do not charge anything at all!
